A Day in the Park - 9/26/2009
Heath Vinyard

We spent the day in the park shooting three scenes this day. Overall the day went great. Seth Caskey, Sarah Cook and Gabriella Rodriguez were the actors for the day and we started off with the Reece/Kayla confrontation.

The day went great. The actors and crew were in top form. It was an easy day all around. We had onlookers, and when you’re shooting guerilla style in a park, it’s bound to happen. But when you pull out guns and don’t get arrested, that makes for a successful day.

We shot three scenes, two in the park, and one in the adjacent neighborhood. Lugging the equipment around was tough. I run my own camera so more often than not I’m lugging the camera and trippod or handheld rig around. It’s cumbersome and gets really heavy after a day, but when you see shots like these, it makes it all worth it.

This day wrapped two of the cast from the series, Sarah and Gabriella. Working with both Sarah and Gabriella has been great. Sarah really blew me away with her performance. Such a natural and gifted actress. I was so happy with what she did with the scene. Gabriella, for being so young, has such great raw talent and is a true pleasure to work with. The support both her and her family have shown for this project is really touching. They’ve believed in both me and the project and that has been so helpful. Two great actresses and amazing people to work with.

This also marked a “Goodbye” to our faithful and talented makeup artist, Rebecca Cook. She has been amazing and it’s been a great experience working with her. Having her in the series made it that much better. She’s going to be missed.

Great day and thank you to all involved! We have the best crew there is!
